Perhaps the most obvious quality of electronic musician Fellsius’ debut record MONOEYE is its confidence. Fellsius (Kanta Sano) throws listeners between genres like trance and UK bass, flitting between dance music’s shiniest tinges and grottiest, grimiest depths. He can both extend tracks out and reel them in at leisure; he can eternally build and totally release, flushing forth with dancefloor-filling house or hardcore EDM. There’s even a track on MONOEYE that remixes samba. But throughout it all it’s always Sano’s confidence and competence that enables him to succeed, shaping MONOEYE into an adventurous and compelling dance record.
