In a decent amount of hyperpop, there’s a tendency to prioritise wackiness and pastiche over the actual pop element. Not peterparker69. A duo of producers Jeter and y ohtrixpointnever, the project’s debut EP deadpool is purposeful and direct. Even as its instrumentals flicker with EDM, soar with weightless cloud rap and throb with post-industrial might, at the forefront are light melodies and satisfying songwriting. All of which means that the work is exceptionally catchy and complete, each track finding its own way to keep listeners hooked.
