Le Makeup (Keisuke Iiri) has long been rather difficult to pin down in terms of genre or style. Part singer-songwriter, part cloud-rapper, part alt-popstar and yet not really any of those things – instead he might be best described in terms of the emotions he evokes in his listeners and in the sonic landscapes to which he can transport them. Over the course of its 18 tracks, Odorata flits from slinking dancefloors and lonely city streets to the undefinably murky and cloudlike. Yet whatever its temporary shift or scene, it always radiates elation; Le Makeup proving a masterfully agile mood-setter and -creator.
