My Revolution is, more than anything else, an exercise in refinement. While Yuransen’s debut My Generation (2020) exhibited rich and pretty indie, spanning contrasts of serene electronic soundscapes and towering dramatic heights, at times it could feel somewhat jolting and erratic. My Revolution keeps all that record’s variety and adds even more – venturing this time into the danceable likes of new wave and R&B – and yet also feels much more focused. In turning his hand to mastering post-production, lead songwriter Itaru Uchimura suavely weaves his influences into a much smoother, more complete and, as such, more impactful work.
